What is ozonation and why is it necessary?
- Right now you might be thinking if spring water is so pure and good, why does it need to be ozonated? Here is just a little bit of information on the process and why we think it’s so important.
- Ozone (O3) is actually nature’s purifier. It’s a naturally occurring disinfecting and deodorizing gas that consists of oxygen (O2) with an extra oxygen atom attached becoming ozone, or O3. Now bear with us through this quick chemistry lesson! When oxygen in the air is exposed to high-intensity ultraviolet rays, ozone is created and when ozone does its job, it oxidizes by giving up and attaching its extra atom to anything that can be oxidized. Why does all of this matter? Because when oxidization takes place it “effectively kills bacteria and viruses.” When the oxidization work is done, O3 reverts back to oxygen meaning the only by product in your water will actually be extra oxygen! In other words, our pure spring water really is about as pure as water can be!
